Poem: Connections

Chains that link us,
Charts that lead us,
Hearts that bleed us,
Heads that believe us.

We connect to them,
As they connect to life,
Questions to unknown answers,
Facts to proven lies.

Films that show us,
Fields that grow us,
Yields that sow us,
Yells that throw us.

We connect to them,
As they connect to life,
Questions to unknown answers,
Facts to proven lies.

Sky that surrounds us,
Problems that compound us,
Puzzles that dumbfound us,
Love that bounds us.

We connect to them,
As they connect to life,
Questions to unknown answers,
Facts to proven lies.

Dreams that wake us,
Screams that shake us,
Minds that make us,
Time that takes us.

We connect to them,
As they connect to life,
Questions to unknown answers,
Facts to proven lies.

Pictures that frame us,
Friends that name us,
Fears that tame us,
Pain that maims us.

We connect to them,
As they connect to life,
Questions to unknown answers,
Facts to proven lies.

Hail that fells us,
Hate that fills us,
Fate that wills us,
Blades that kill us.

Poem: Can They Not See?

Great things are promised, from those with the power,
But little is delivered, to those who just cower.

Can they not see, the pain they always cause?
Are they blinded by guilt, of poverty and wars?

We let them make the choices, to help us live a life,
But they give us grief, our problems are rife.

Can they not see, the terror and tears?
Are they blinded by guilt, of the dreadful years?

We look to the future, and what it can hide,
But they take our hope, and brush it aside.

Can they not see, the torture and crime?
Are they blinded by guilt, through all this time?

It is our trust, that we give to the “bosses”,
But in return, we all suffer losses.

Can they not see, the death and dismay?
Are they blinded by guilt, or do they look the other way?
