OK, so I splashed out on a new toy, a Power Breathe Plus Sports (link removed as site has disappeared). I’ve tried it at the lowest levels, and all seems easy enough so far. I’ll whack the difficulty up and see if it makes any difference over time.
I found I was getting out of breath even just running upstairs sometimes, while other times I can play my badminton with no effects until I flagged in the 3rd game. I hope with persistence, and some CV training while away (especially in the heat / humidity!) I can stop the breathlessness.
